The American right has done plenty to keep Saddam in power as well. The Republicans gave Saddam support in the 1980s during his war against Iran. Bob Dole even paid a personal visit to Saddam in 1990, shortly before Saddam invaded Kuwait. Perhaps the far-left is now trying to stand in the way of this war effort to oust Saddam. But, I don't think they have any love for Saddam. It has more to do with opposition to a pre-emptive war then supporting the enemy.
