Re:<<Check every poll until right before the war. The US was pushing Bush to strongly seek UN and coalition partners. >>

Seeking coalition partners and demanding UN approval are two completely different things. Kerry was and is out of whack. He wanted a position that distinguished himself from Bush and he is stuck with it!

Re:<<Part of the reason is that Bushies made Saddam such an exaggerated mighty boogey-man, people were scared and thought we needed more help. When you tell people Saddam could attack and destroy America, expect people to urge caution. >>

Come on AS. Everybody knew that Iraq would be decimated. We only sent two divisions over there to conduct the ground war because we would have air superiority and crush them with smart bombs and close air support from the beginning.

The American people aren't afraid of Saddam and never were. They were concerned about what Saddam was building and in whose hands these weapons might end up. They were concerned about his torturing, raping and ruthlessness. They knew he had tried twice before to build a nuclear bomb and weren't about to let him succeed in the third try.
