what has the UN really added to your existence?

You mean in the 31 years I have prowled this earth? Nothing material to me personally, but I do sort of cherish the long period of relative calm since its establishment.

Fact of the matter is that UN was established to provide a platform of mutual understanding and cooperation between nations in the name of PEACE. It is very clear in its charter. No member country is supposed to go off aggressing other countries with paranoid delusions as to what future threat they might pose.

I cannot agree with you that the UN does not serve a purpose. You could argue for the US to withdraw so that it will not be accountable to any such international will the next time it wishes to invade a country. In that case, I suspect the UN will be a common ground for the rest of the world. Not sure if that will be the best outcome for the US, nor the world in general.
