I'm not sure which technology you mean (ADSL or VDSL), but I am increasing hearing that ADSL will not have the bandwidth to handle HDTV-quality video. And by the time every set-top box could have both ADSL and VDSL (for what purpose?), it is as likely that there won't be set-top boxes, with the necessary capabilities built into every TV.

I won't hold my breath for either scenario.
