I pointed out that the Romans allowed citizenship while the British did not. All in all, I am not in favor of colonialism in any form. But I think US colonization of Texas has worked out much better than the British legacy in general...as I said before, as far as colonizations go, the Borg method is most preferred. One problem with the current "globalization" is that it exports the materialistic side of American culture without standing up for the parts of American culture which is honorable...so it too is not as good as the Romans' :-)
