Sadly, though, no matter how good the reasons are which you have for justifying Powell's statement, it was, in the final analysis, untrue. It was said for emotional appeal, and it was very good as an emotional statement.
well it is sadly true on the other side of the sand dunes X , that we find the emotional appeals based on "truth" are also made that lead indoctrinated fanatics to lash out at whatever represents to them a threat to ther own secure beliefs. To the extent they are willing to blow each other up with bombs tied to their bodies , for some religious standards of "Truth".
For Powell this statement was a truth based obviously in the moment in an emotional response of one with a military background, and knows the sacrifices of the many from before.
Yet I don't know if "truth" has always now or ever had that distinct frozen definition that manifested borders and boundries clearly drawn , without some free society ready to extend the liberty to it's citizens to be able to explore it's realms and to do critical analysis and DD . Perhaps the time is drawing nearer with each new social experiment made in humanities voyage thru relative space and time on earth. Certainly violent regime change is frought with dangers , coupled as it is with the intention of superimposing a democracatic transparent governing body in a land that has known only tribal and sectarian bloody conflicts for endless years .
Segue into what ?
Perhaps the future. |
