I would start to look for waste in the most useless of federal programs: in the Interior Dept. (Enron accounting for over 100 years in the BIA! and sweetheart grazing/logging/mining deals), Agriculture Dept., Energy Dept (corporate welfare's best friend), HUD, Army Corps of Engineers (no idea what 'cost/benefit ratio means), DEA (98% wasted spending), Pentagon procurement (can't balance their books, can't account for spending, and yes, the Osprey is pure waste, F22 and ABM both would have problems passing a cost/benefit needs test), Education Dept (less bureaucracy for the buck is required), etc., etc.
After that... on to total reform of our wasteful, economically biased, needlessly complicated, special loophole-ridden tax code... with the aim of drastically simplifying, cutting the annual $200 B. in compliance costs, eliminating national industrial policy, and lowering rates to raise the natural growth rate of the economy. |
