angelfire.com In India , they have Psalms too dating back many many centuries, they are called Bajans ....exquisite things as transcendant as Psalms without the exclusionary clauses that which is Christianity's (and Islam following suit ) want . God is not "Jewish" , islamic or Christian...as are not human tenderness compassion or love or the virtues ending with temperance, giving , humility or purity . But they do teach these too , and greater Life is also the goal shared . Seems like another running thread through most all religions is the emphasis on "purity", minimalising materialty and developing inner strength of focus by doing so. Then a perception of an "other" world begins to open up . Hindus were well aware of this other "world " when Moses was lost in the desert. You follow the story that pleases you the most and were raised with . That is human nature , but not all... You find the first mass baptisms over in India taking place in the river Ganges . 300 bc .
