CYBERPHONES: The first product using the standard is a beta version
of Intel's Internet Phone for Windows that hits the net tomorrow at
www.intel.com. If the standard, H.323-compliant, is adopted, pc users
could use the net to make phone calls to internet or regular phones
across the world. Some of the most popular net phones are DigiPhone
at www.digiphone.com, WebPhone at www.netspeak.com, and CoolTalk which
is part of the Netscape Navigator at home.netscape.com. The LD folks
are closely watching Internet phone usage; long-distance use should
go up with this standard. The standard is supported by industry
leaders Intel/Microsoft/Netscape and is expected to be widely adopted
although many are said to loathe Microsoft's part in its creation.

WORLD'S FASTEST DESKTOP: Power Computing introduced the Power Tower
Pro which uses IBM's PowerPC 604e that reaches up to 225 megahertz
and runs 25% faster than the fastest Macintosh and up to 30% faster
than Pentium based PCs.
