[OT] Things are moving amazingly more quickly than they did with HIV.

Here's a hot potato for anyone who wants to grasp it: Do you think if HIV patients had been quarantined from the start, before the disease was understood, that it could have been made a rare disease in the countries outside Africa (where I doubt such a quarantine would have been feasible?)

I'm not a Castro admirer, but I think he has been successful in arresting AIDS in Cuba by quarantine. Of course it's easier on a small, fairly isolated, centrally-controlled island.
