Initially, I thought that ERICY wasn't going to be backwards compatible until last week....... ERICY indicated that they were working with NTT, LU, & others for the system in Japan......The recent news, from the Kyodo news service, indicates that NTT will be working with QCOM for "a next generation global standard." This, to me, would indicate that the system NTT is working on now WILL be backwards compatible......Remember the GSM/CDMA trials QCOM is doing???.... In the conference call, they (management )mentioned that "we don't anticipate any significant technological problems." This would leave me to believe that their (QCOM's & hopefully NTT's) system will overlay GSM & will be backwards compatible......BY the way, the initial results, according to whom I have spoken to at QCOM, should be out in Jan....Funny.....Isn't that when THE 7 MONTH PERIOD ENDS FOR LAWSUITS with ERICY ????? Hmmmmm........
Finally, people at IDO and DDI mentioned very specifically in articles I have read that they must always consider NTT when making decisions. By choosing CDMA, they went against PHS and NTT and got a jump on NTT. I hope that NTT chooses to implement CDMA soon, rather than 2001, to try and stifle their competition but help QCOM AND IS-95 CDMA. This way, all CDMA in Japan will be IS-95 backwards compatible and QCOM wins...... NTT can't afford to lose........IDO or DDI, I can't remember, , has had the best 5 year return of any company on the Nikkei from what I heard last......competition is getting fierce so NTT better step up to the plate.....We'll find out how lethargic they are.......
Remember next week MEXICO announces the winners of the auctions.... The stock WILL move IMHO!!!!
According to FCC people I have talked to, results of C-block hopefully will be done by Labor day.....if not, by the end of September.....but they couldn't guarantee anything.........normal government stuff.....
