Here is the official federal government data on federal employment.
fedscope.opm.gov
If you check, the data for the December 2000 quarter, you will see the total employment just before Mr. Bush, et al., took office. Then compare it to the December 2002 data. You will see a growth of about 100,000 federal employees. It took Mr. Clinton 3 years to get rid of these 100,000 employees as shown in the data. However, Mr. Bush, et al., is increasing government bloat at the rate of 50,000 employees a year. That is "compassionate conservatism." Increase, domestic programs, increase defense spending, and reduce taxes. It is a combination of Johnsonian/Reagan fiscal policy. What a horrible mix.
If the suckers buy it, more power to Mr. Bush, et al.
Talk about suckers. I once read a note on the George Bush thread. It went something like this. The person saw Mr. Bush in a small boat fishing on a lake. The person said something like, "when I saw that, I knew he would make a great president." I love that stuff.
Politics is marketing and Mr. Bush is very marketable for domestic consumption. That is why the Republican Party went to Texas and coaxed him to run for President. In politics, reality is the image that your market perceives. Until the democrats accept Mr. Bush as a bright fellow and one of the most capable politicians to ever enter Washington City, they will be unable to mount any effective opposition to him. |
