<<Which favor do Germans owe Saddam?>>
Saddam would look upon these purchases from Germany as doing Germany a favor by buying from them
And they involved a lot more than oil
But nearly all countries were guilty in some fashion, just some a lot more than others
<<<<German companies supplied Iraq in spite of embargo The Iraqi arms report apparently names more than 80 German companies who have traded with Iraq since 1975, several public and private research labs and individual persons among them. the daily "Berliner Tageszeitung" reported. Among the supplies sent to Iraq, the paper includes entire plants and modules for ABC weapon and missile production programs. The federal ministry for economy countered that as early as 1990 the Kohl government had submitted information on such trade to the Bundestag. The help German companies gave Iraq up to the Golf war is on public record. A strict embargo has been applied since, and it has been disregarded a limited number of times, the ministry said. Investigations into the matter were underway. According to TAZ, a company of the microelectronics sector is said to have supplied to Iraq until 2001, a fact of which the federal government is said to have been aware since 1990.>>>
