The total debt includes Social Security, government financing of mortgages, and many other government activities that are not directly part of the budget controlled by congress and the President. You can't blame the President for borrowing money that others control. Using overall debt figures merely hides what really was going on.

Now the reverse is true. The administration hasn't even put the total costs of war into the budget. Instead, it asks for a supplemental appropriation. Double talk. Can't be trusted. Don't trust 'em.
