Well, we'll just have to disagree on that on then. But I'd like to point out that what little headline LindyBill posted of that CIA operator's book seems to go towards my position about our interactions with corrupt regimes...and not for the better.

I still believe that. If we were God (or a close approximation of) then perhaps we could fix all the ills of the world. But since we are not, I am suggesting we let God (in the form of social evolution and Darwinian Politics) fix it for us. We can buy goods. We can sell goods. We should not take sides in internal social and political movements. Nor should we force them to buy things from us. Or force them to sell us things if they do not want to. We should neither support the friendly dictators. Nor should we push for human rights. Other nations will come up with their own solutions and good solutions will be those that are compatible with ours. I just don't think we have the capability or the right to force it on them...think more along the lines of Star Trek prime directive.
