Refutes what? That Kasim wanted to nationalize oil and so remove cheap access to it? That having a pro-US regime next to Saddam made use of Cold War tensions to get a lot of soviet weapons? Or that the Kurds wanted to have their own land and did not particularly care who would help them get it?
