Dunno, Sun Tzu, I don't think anyone is smart enough to foresee everything... In the 80's, for example, we had a huge number of Soviet nukes aimed at us. The Soviets wanted to take over Afghanistan, and their victory would give their regime a new lease on life, while expanding their Empire. We had to support the people who resisted their advance, and we did. Some of those people later turned against us. It would be impossible back then to foresee that years down the road the USSR will be gone, and that militant fundamentalist Islam will become the clear and present danger. Things flow, things change, and like it or not, we have to deal with the present... while trying to foresee the future... the best we can.
