This UN that you tear down is the same one that the US helped devise its principles and rules and then culminate the effort in being signatory to these very rules of order. Rather than work within the system to repair/improve the institution that they helped to establish, they see fit to tear it down because it didn't meet their objectives. What kind of message does that send to the world with regard to US regard for law and order? Before you harangue me about the tin pot dictators and such be aware that you sent that message to all law abiding and serious governments in the world. It was a bad example to set and undermined US integrity.

The US was on its way to getting approval for an incursion and chose to piss on the entire process in the interest of expediency. Twelve years or twelve years and one month. What sense was that? Now we look forward to what? You say set up a new body with new rules. Good luck on that one now. It could have been done through the existing structure and the US could have retained its integrity and respect.

One thing that makes the US different is our irrevocable sovereignty of the individual,

Other than a great flag wave I don't see what bearing that has on this issue. Timothy McVeigh thought he had "irrevocable sovereignty of the individual" too.
