<< "Following the breakup of the Ottoman Empire during World War I, Syria was administered by the French until independence in 1946." >>

France has been screwing up portions of the world for centuries. Vietnam, Syria, Ivory Coast are some examples.

When America asked it's old friend France to stand with America in the difficult task of removing the horrible Saddam regime, France thought for a little while. France remembered how many Americans died in WWII freeing France from the Nazis. France remembered how much America helped them after the devastation of WWII.

France wouldn't have to do much. All America wanted was for France to stand up as an ally of America, rather than slither on it's belly in fear of terrorist reprisals.

I wonder what France decided to do?

<< Logically it would seem to me Israel has as much of
a claim to post-Ottoman Empire/post-colonial territory
as Syria has.

The Muslim fundamentalists are like the mafia. They want total control over all money and power. An economically successful democracy, like Israel, right in their midst is a threat to their absolute power.

That's why the Muslim terrorists resorted to violence when the Palestinians were offered their own state, billions in aid, peace and prosperity.

Until these Muslim mafias are destroyed, the legal issues between Jews and Palestinians will never be resolved peacefully.
