My premise is, that if we were such Imperialists as some think we are, France, Germany, Italy, the Balkan nations, Belgium, and several North African nations, plus, would be members of our Empire. In short, no American empire exists, nor is that the goal of the government of the US.

Our exchange has become distorted. I never suggested we have been imperialists nor do I think we are on that path now. I simply was saying that Powell's comments were impressive but a bit of an exaggeration.
