I grew up in America and went to schools where there were very few Jews. As a young child who really didn't even know what Jewish meant, I was overwhelmed by other children hating me, when they found out I was Jewish.
We would be playing together day after day, really enjoying ourselves. Then, for some reason religion came up. After my being identified as a Jew, many of those wonderful playmates, all of a sudden, hated my guts. If it weren't for some very tough Christian friends, I would never had gotten through school in one piece, although I did have my share of fights!
Even having to face antiSemitism, while growing up, I realized that America is truly represented by a majority of people who are against racism and antiSemitism, and, as a Jew, I was very fortunate having been born in such a great country.
As a Jew who slowly learned about the Holocaust, while in my teens, I have grown to hate those who support the victimization of others, whether it be the horribly treated Albanian Muslims in Kosovo, or the abused, raped and tortured women of Afghanistan, or the Jewish families who are blown to bits by the Arab terrorist groups. On this thread there are many who support Saddam staying in power and continuing to torture and murder the good people of Iraq. That should be unacceptable to any compassionate American. |
