In my remarks about the legal theory I had in mind, of course, man-made law vs. God-given law, but there is no need to belabor the point. I understand now what you meant.
It is true that a soldier cannot justify atrocities because he "just follows orders". But, on the other hand, it is meaningless to blame individual people in uniform for each act of violence, which is what a war consists of.
Maurice, I recall you mentioning that your father went to war against the Nazis in 1939. My father did the same. He spent in the trenches 4 years, form ’41 to 45, and he was wounded several times... all this while he was still such a young whipper snapper... instead of going to college and hanging out with pretty girls. Tell me, Maurice, each time when those young men, our fathers, raised their weapons in anger, who was responsible for the consequences? They personally, or the bizarre Nazi regime which forced itself upon the world and upon them?
