The improvements since the Gulf War are mostly Clinton's. On his watch. These are the military's completion of the transition from Cold War to post Cold War tactics, training and systems. These are huge investments in the finest equipment and training the world has ever known. Eight years Clinton was in power and our military got MUCH BETTER not worse, saving tax-payer money at the same time by shedding old useless Cold War assets and techniques.

If Clinton had been weak on military, the way the right-wing dishonestly claims, we would have not advanced the way we did in the 90's and even into 2001.

Our Air Force is 1000% more accurate. Our Army and Navy are much less vulnerable and more dominant. The typical combat soldier takes at least 5 years to fully train. That training and all those improvements since the Gulf War took place during the Clinton years. And remember Gore's military budget was higher than Bush's. Last night on TV they interviewed the heroic tank brigade commander and he said his men were so good because they'd all been training 5-10 years together. Not just since Bush took power.

The claim by the right-wing that they are the only pro military party is just plain BS. A gross lie. In fact, Cold War cuts started during Bush Sr's years and continued with full bi-partisan support until late in the Clinton era. By then we had shedded off tens of billions in unnecessary Cold War type systems and bases. And that was a very good thing for all Americans. To have kept them would have been a gross waste of tax-payers money and both parties agreed.

In 2004, you will see a true militry man start leading this country. John Kerry, winner of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts and highly-respected expert on all mattera military, intel and foreign affairs. Unlike GW Bush who has to delegate everything because he has no experience in the field whatsoever.
