What you don't seem to understand is that there is a difference between having the chance to adapt and assimilate the new environment, and being bombarded at every direction and being at massive loss against the cultural invasion. That's poppycock. More of the "oh no they're telling me to buy a Coke I can't help myself" silliness. DON'T BUY THE DAMN COKE and COKE WILL GO AWAY. Wanna know why no one wears burkas in the States? BECAUSE NO ONE WOULD BUY THEM. Do you understand supply and demand? Are you overwhelmed at being bombarded in every direction? Is the marketing of Ginsu getting you so hot and bothered? Yan Can Cook driving you bonkers? Gonna go firebomb the Vietnamese restaurant down the street, because you can't take it anymore?
