Denmark's Daily Politiken: Khazraji in Kuwait

You have to hand it to the Danish media, even if precious few other media outlets around the world are interested or are following the Khazraji story, they certainly are. In a major story Saturday (per their wesbite) the Danish daily Politiken claims that Nazir Khazraji is presently in Kuwait after being smuggled out of Denmark with the help of the CIA (the Berlingske Tidende has a small story mentioning the Politiken scoop).

According to the five authors of the article the former head of the CIA's counter-terrorism department, Vincent Cannistraro, has written a confidential report saying that the CIA ferreted Khazraji out of Denmark and into Kuwait where he is now working together with the USA. Today Cannistraro answers questions about terrorism by a large number of media contacts and also supplies risk analysis to private industry, so he is considered to have credibility. The report in no way acknowledges its sources it only emphasizes that they are highly authentic.

The article notes that the U.S. embassy has said it has no knowledge of Mr. Cannistraro's secret analysis.

In an interesting concluding section, the Politiken article states the the Cannistraro report is seemingly supported by an article in the latest issue of the Saudi Arabian magazine Al-Majalla. The Al-Majalla article claims that Khazraji was whisked away from Denmark by the CIA to help the Anglo-American alliance. Khazraji was supposed, through his contacts with the Iraqi army, to have helped the war command to get a fix on the location of Saddam Hussein and his sons so that they could be killed at the outset of the war. A second task had to do with military closed circuit television in Iraq. Al-Majalla says both plans failed, and Khazraji has therefore chiefly been used simply to continue seeking ties with members of the Iraqi army.
