I'm constantly amazed that those who distrust big government, whose actions are at least somewhat constrained by the need to be re-elected, seem to think that it is great to have secretive private interests obtain near total control of the institutions which protect our freedom. With the right set of interlocking directors and Aurthur Andersen style audits there is no checks or balances.
