rruff, [are you a dog?] try the disk health test at pcpitstop. I just did and got this... Drive C Initial Scan Result OK. No crosslinked files. Percent of Data Fragmented 13 % Percent of Files Fragmented 2 % Total Fragmented Files 564 Overall Disk Health Poor. Very high fragmentation levels. Recommendations Use a disk defragmenter as soon as possible to improve performance. PS: WinXP defrag says 'you do not need to defrag this volume'. Gottfried
