Why do you want or need international approval? I believe that our cultural values are solid. And for the most part, I find the cultural values of the countries whose approval you seek to be a bit suspect.

Because there are less than 300mm americans, is the only reason.

I simply don't want to make the same mistakes the Brits did wrt the empire. I don't think you can impose your values on every corner of the world and expect to survive.... the UN provides the world's "buy in"... not a perfect system for obtaining global approval of course but it is all we have.

Notice there were not many worldwide protests against Kosovo, for example.
