It has to do with brain fatigue.
Build up of fatigue poisons is not the same thing as depletion of energy reserves. If it is either of those, the question is which? Or a combination? Or something else, such as a built-in timer.

The physical symptoms, such as loss of energy, could be the result of malfunctioning nerves or incorrect nerve reports.

But the access to energy and the capability to realize it kinetically are obvious facts
Not obvious at all, I'd say. The brain is supposed to get its energy from blood glucose. I'd bet there is no drop in blood glucose level.
