Charles: Here's some more info on Intel's Internet Phone software:
It is a breakthrough because the software is based on open standards
and is not proprietary software. It is the first to allow users of
different types of computers and software to lin up, solving a long-
standing problem that held back use of the internet for long-distance
telephone calls. The software works on PCs running Windows 95 and
Intel has also signed up 120 companies who have agreed to use the
standard in new products. The object is to change the internet today
from a broadcast only medium and give it person-to-person communication
ability. In its quest to make the PC an indespensible tool and in an
effort to ensure its success, Intel is offering the software free
starting Wednesday, July 24, on its Web site:
