Curis/Skin Cancer Drug: Shares Recently Up 80% >CRIS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Dow Jones)--Curis Inc. identified a new small molecule drug candidate, CUR-61414, for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma, a skin cancer.

In a press release Monday, the therapeutic drug development company said CUR- 61414 prevents the proliferation and selectively induces the death of the tumor cells, while not harming adjacent normal skin cells in two different models of basal cell carcinoma.

Curis' findings were published in the current online issue of The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Shares of Curis traded recently at $1.50, up 67 cents, or 80.7%, on Nasdaq Nasdaq volume of 2.6 million shares. Average daily volume is 40,820 shares.
