Excuses we have heard for not investing in diamonds ...
1. It's not on the craton
ans: Who drew the craton map last week? Tell them to redraw it around all new discoveries.
2. The action is in the NWT
ans: Copycats are a dime a dozen
3. I am just a little guy
ans: Do you want to get big?
4. How much money do you have of your own in the company?
ans: The less I have, the more you can have.
5. Are there any major discoveries near by?
Ans: only ours, but we have yet to make it.
6. I am not in diamonds.
Ans: It's never too late to start.
7. How much money do you have in the company? We only fund companies that have a minimum amount in them.
ans: Where do companies get their money? Don't you wish you had first crack at any other good idea?
8. We only fund public companies.
ans: Fund us, then you have your wish.
9. Only DeBeers can make money in diamonds.
ans: DeBeers, Australia, Russia, Tanzania, Brazil, Congo, Botswana, now Canada. "Only people who try it", seems to be the formula.
10. You could put your company in our shell.
ans: You could put your shell in our company. Value trumps paper.
11. We can only pay 100,000 shares for properties.
ans: Have you been able to buy any mines lately with that strategy?
12. We have to have a buyout on the smelter return.
Ans: When I drill it off and have the feasibility in hand I will tell what that figure is.
13. The chrome diopsides are not high in chrome.
ans: That is why they call them low-chrome chrome diopside.
14. There are no economic diamonds in Ontario.
ans: I didn't know you had drilled Ontario off. Could we see the data? You know, they said the same thing about the NWT for 50 years. And Canada too. Apparently when the lost the drilling data to that effect it caused the diamonds to grow.
15. The drift diamonds are only industrial quality.
Ans: The six that were found varied in quality. Of course, so they must be the same as the other 20,000,000 in the deposit they came from. You expect large samples like that to be definitive.
16. The drift diamonds could have come from 1000 miles away.
ans: Industrial quality diamonds degrade rapidly in drift transport. You cannot have it both ways.. it's either 1000 miles away or low quality, not both.. Large diamonds of low quality must therefore be close. You might miss the small ones. Average distance of transport in Canada for all float is six miles. Why use averages? On the average could you not be wrong? 50-50 sounds good to me, on the other hand.
17. How come all the big companies aren't in there if it's so good?
ans: They were asking the same question. I guess you are as smart as the big companies. But you don't want to be stupider and be second, so start thinking hard.
