In an alarmists way that article does pose some hypothesis and figures that are somewhat thoughtful . Yet only days ago it assumed the US/Brits will probably "win in the long run " , but we have all seen we have just won in the----> short run... so alot of his theorizing goes out the window. The war is almost over, in 3 weeks , so anyone can see that aspect of our superpower status remains more than intact.

... 2.5Bil a day is quite a total , but we have already
seen oil return back to the lowest levels in months here . One economic benefit has been seen already.

To point out that our "super power " status is at stake , that time is not on our side economically ,it must be remembered what happens to us on that stage also happens to them as well ... so it is not looking much like time is on anybodies side for all that goes. And as long as the world's greatest consumer in the US keeps buying imported goods (you are one ) , then some measure of influence will always be maintained by the US, and there are many who depend on that market , least last time I looked. This author underestimates the drive and will of most of the world to just get back to normalcy and trade , as usual . It will always be an economic struggle between nations , and the US is far too superior in many imprtant areas to quickly be stripped of that advantage . And when they steal our secrets , we will make up new ones.

Russia France and Germany with China being drawn closer together as an after effect , is not much to worry about , imo, and again another example of this alarmist's posits... Seems throughout that entire article , he is trying to make the comparison between Imperialist Rome and the US present day circumstances. That's a convenient but inaccurate comparison , though people love comparisons , especially grandiose ones. Rome never fought with the precision and constraint that we have managed to array ourselves, and with so much less savegry , and liberating people in the process. But there are many more ways this comparison does not stand up , but more importantly we have shown the world we are finally doing the right thing at the right time by ridding the world of this kind of organized tyranny which through nepotism recreates itself and rules only intimidation by the dominant minority . We put many others in the world who similarly conspire on serious notice .

We don't need these other "rulers" friendship or good will for now , just their smiling faces when they sit down to bargain with us, than attack us ...and even if those smiles are ingenuine , they dare not act insincerely , and given time they will find it is easier to trade and do business with us , for they realize that they too prosper in the end.

I wonder how it would be if 9/11 happened over in Berlin , or Moscow or Paris , and what their responses would have been ? Even now you can see people in downtown Baghdad carrying on their lives normally , going shopping at the mall , driving to and from business , and sitting down in many coffee shops to sip and discuss politics . Does it look like to you that they fear the "ROMAN Imperialists" are coming ??
