I was just reading about the battle over affirmative action and Va. Tech. They had apparently banned and then reinstated affirmative action. What was interesting was the reason given for the reinstatement--that the language of the ban offended people.

At Kilgore's urging, the Board of Visitors last month passed a resolution stating that the university "shall not discriminate against, grant preferences in favor of, or otherwise weigh or consider an applicant's disability, age, veteran status, political affiliation, race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religious belief or gender."
