From a leading producer of dichroic art glass:

navitar.com

"Thus, what we commonly call Dichroic Glass is actually a dielectric Interference Filter attached to the surface of a piece of glass."

He gives the total thickness of the stack as 48 to 96 millionths of an inch, or about 12,000 to 24,000 ångstroms - not so thin after all.

Speaking of Pfeiffer, I was close to buying Pfeiffer Vacuum (any connection to Arthur?) last week at $19.25. But, I didn't, mainly because the trading volume is way too low here (only about 1,000 shares /day). Also, there is usually a dropoff in their results from Q4 to Q1, and I'm worried it might be bigger than usual this year.
