Your choice of shorting is not bad for now. I agree that this stock may be slightly ahead of itself and have no plans to buy any more.

The problem I have with the short side is that you are essentially betting that Dell will be caught up in a market correction and just fall further than the other stocks. Granted Dell is one of those stocks that follow the market, but Dell is currently the best performer (by far) of all the major PC companies. I dont sell shares of good companies, I buy them because they have much better chances of going up than down. I would rather buy and think that I own a good company than bet and think that the market will fall and bring this company down with it. One thing I refuse to ever do is fight the market.

If a correction does happen, I would be buying more Dell, thats for sure. In regards to the other guy, if he thinks that Dell will fall soon, he should keep his short position. Im sure his short position is on pure valuation because there sure is no fundamental data to support a fall in Dell (Im more of a fundamental investor than technical). As far as the options go, be careful. With all the recent volitility in Dell, the spreads are getting quite large.
