this sentiment contrary indicator as a way to determine bull vs. bear mkts is something that comes up on every trading thread constantly.

The whole problem as far as I can tell is the issue with market players being a steady state. Asking current traders whether they are bullish or bearish might work if we knew that we would only have those traders in the market, ever. But the volume being so low is saying the individual investor as a whole counts as "bearish".

I think it was Kirk or someone on the Amat thread who said these sentiment ratings remind him of the last 5 players remaining in a 1000-player poker tournament. Meaning it only works while we are in this trading range.
