You say there is an error in my thinking, but you have only restated in another form what I have said: that gold maintains its value (measured in terms of goods) in inflationary times. I agree that deflation causes economic collapse. But why? Because people hang onto their money. Why buy today what will be cheaper down the road? They don't buy gold. As the poster at exchange2000.com sums it up, in deflationary times, "cash is king."
