Maurice,

<< EricL, I missed the transition from cdma2000 to CDMA2000 >>

So did I. <g> You Know Perry. Likes to keep us on our toes. CDG never sleeps and all such what.

<< I used to wonder whether cdma2000 should be Cdma2000 at the beginning of a sentence >>

I still do but cdmaOne is fading away. <gg> I always decided on cdmaOne to begin the sentence since CdmaOne looked sorta goofy. Nice of Perry to cook up CDMA2000 to solve the issue. <ggg>

<< CDMA2000 in 800MHz or 900MHz, or better still, 450 MHz >>

Ain't no CDMA2000 in 900 MHz. If there was coulda saved us the Singapore embarrassment. 450 MHz is not 3G IMT-2000 as expanded by WRC-2000, so admins and regulators aren't really interested. They have other more pressing issues and there is a tendency towards more uniformity worldwide. Nice propagation there but its an itty bitty slice. Around the world rather typically there is a hodge podge of this specialized service and that specialized service with interference and whatever. Its a regulatory nightmare and putting "3G -like services" in non-3G spectrum isn't going to happen in too many places, IMO. That’s the issue in the UK. Pretty much the same way as in France. Its why the GSMers walked away from GSM 450 to replace the 2 million NMT 450 subs of the world. Enough issues upstream and mainstream.

Best,

- Eric -
