Spescom eB Selected for Space Shuttle Program by United Space Alliance Wednesday April 9, 8:04 am ET
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2003--Spescom Software Inc., formerly Altris Software, Inc. (OTC BB: ALTS), today announced that United Space Alliance (USA), one of the world's leading space operations companies, has selected Spescom's eB integrated document, configuration and records (iDCR) management solution for managing all engineering changes during the development and management of upgrades for the Space Shuttle Program. This contract will commence during April 2003 on the Cockpit Avionics Upgrade (CAU) project for the Space Shuttle. Spescom's eB was selected by USA following an extensive, competitive evaluation process that focussed on out-of-the-box functionality, architecture and security. The eB solution will provide a common environment for defining and managing all documents and data associated with the Cockpit Avionics Upgrade project. eB will enable all parties involved in the project to create, access and share information, ensuring the integrity of information as ongoing changes are made. The benefits of this common environment include enhanced efficiency, visibility and safety.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA was established in 1996 as a Limited Liability Company and is equally owned by The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA - News) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT - News). It employs over 10000 people in Texas, Florida, Alabama, California and Washington, D.C.
USA manages and conducts space operations work involving the operation and maintenance of multi-purpose space systems, including systems associated with NASA's human space flight program, Space Shuttle applications beyond those of NASA, and other reusable launch and orbital systems beyond the Space Shuttle and Space Station. As the prime contractor for NASA's Space Shuttle Program, United Space Alliance is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the U.S. Space Shuttle fleet.
Carl Mostert, Spescom Software's CEO commented, "We are excited about this major contract with USA, which further demonstrates the value we bring to our customers and the power of our eB solution. Moreover, we believe that this breakthrough on the Cockpit Avionics Upgrade program could lead to the adoption of eB by other projects -- opportunities we will actively pursue."
