You don't ask a victim if the end justifies the means- that's why you don't let the father of a murdered child go out and torture his child's killer. Sometimes bigger things (like justice and law and stability) are more important. I am glad for the Iraqis, and I hope the transition goes well. But what we did was wrong, and the precedent we set for "preemptive war" is terrible; what we did was against international stability, justice and law (imo). I hope on balance it turns out to be a net positive- that is far from clear right now, but I really do hope for the best. That does not make the means right.
