Thanks for your thoughts on the situation in Venezuela. I too feel that I ought to know more about it. But one thing is clear and that is that Chavez has a big following amongst the working class and the poor -- which is the majority of the population. So it's very possible that he could win the next election. I've read comments such as "... the first President ever to have made a serious attempt to redistribute some of the wealth of the country". But a democrat he's not. However, I hope that he allows the election process to proceed and that it goes ahead peacefully. But if he wins, I suspect the CIA would step in and make sure he doesn't survive another term. Allende in Chile was democratically elected and *was* a democrat, but that didn't ensure his survival. :^(

Meanwhile, I think we can just put CSL on ice....
