Arno, I think one provision of the new law changes the definition of a long-term holding to 18 months from the current 12 months. It is effective for sales after July 28, 1997 (Monday). The New York Times had an extensive article about this on Wednesday, although the article in today's paper was much more garbled. I assume the Journal covers the point as well.
