It was going into the dumper? Not during the majority of the campaign. Only in Oct. did some red flags get raised and they were minor. It wasn't until Jan. of the next year that CSCO admitted business had dropped off.

One of the better ways to keep it from sliding further in to the dumper is to cut taxes.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. See my response to Brian.

I do think that Bush has done a poor job of controling spending however and I think he should get some blame for that but I don't think Gore or Clinton would have done any better under the circumstances.

I don't agree. Maybe under Gore but Clinton knew his economy. Maybe it helped growing up poor.
