Next season, the Jayhawks must replace their best two players, Collison and
Hinrich. Collison leaves as an All-American, the No. 2 scorer in Kansas
history. Hinrich started in 118 of 141 games he played, averaging more than
12 points.

Help is on the way. Already signed is perhaps the best freshman class since
Collison, Hinrich and Drew Gooden, who left for the NBA last year as a
junior, arrived in Lawrence.

Heading the group will be 6-foot-11 David Padgett, a McDonald's
All-American; J.R. Giddens, a 6-5 slasher; 6-4 Omar Wilkes, son of former
NBA star Jamaal Wilkes; and 6-1 shooting guard Jeremy Case. Williams
describes Case as the best shooter he's ever signed.

They will join three starters with Final Four experience -- point guard Aaron
Miles, forward Keith Langford and center Jeff Graves. That's not to mention
Wayne Simien, the muscular 6-9 sophomore who dislocated his shoulder Jan.
