Anyone can get indignant and righteous. I'm sure Nazis got indignant and righteous- I'm sure many of them thought they were right.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction"

I would say that any deep conviction will do. I think no matter what you do, you need to realize you could be wrong. Many people seem unable to accept that. Every action can conceivably have a bad result- even "good" actions. IMO one has to accept that and move on carefully. That's why I don't think reacting to really ugly posts may be the best course- sometimes one does it quickly, and one is not careful. I think the most careful thing one can do, is ignore anyone who acts in a totally unacceptable way- that is best for you, and best for them. Of course I've tried the other, and decided it wasted my time, and rewarded behavior in others I did not want to reward. But I do not want to foist my way on to you. You will do whatever you think is right. And I can't possibly substitute my judgment for yours, nor would I want to. JMO

I got a bit off track there- I meant to thank you for your comment, and I think the referenced post was just an ill considered joke. I would hope no one here wishes anyone else here actual harm. And if anyone here does wish others harm, then they deserve our compassion, for being people burdened with feelings like that. Those can't be good feelings to carry around.
