The AWOL issue is absolutely true. The rumor about killing the author of FORTUNATE SON which was stopped before it was puiblished is conspiracy myth. No proof of that. But Hatfield the author had reportedly proven Bush was arrested for cocaine in 1972 (the same year he went AWOL) and that it had been covered up. Same with the Larry Flynt story about Bush's girlfriend getting an abortion around that same time. Hey, so what? Back in 1972 I was partying away too. And I was hanging with a similar but younger crowd as GW too, rich preppies and Ivy League, Good Time Charlies from New England. We all did drugs (including all the cocaine we could find) and had unprotected sex with girls. If they weren't on the pill, abortions were considered no big deal. My pals were scions of the GOP and Democrat party alike, Kennedys and Buckleys. Plus a cousin of the Bushes. I can tell you first-hand there was no behavior difference between sons of differing party powers. Wde had a WILD party in James Buckely's house in NYC, trashed the place. gg Kerry and Gore admit smoking pot back then. Quayle had a cocaine thing going back then. So why not GW? Considering he was in AA 15 years later it would be no great revelation. Also, if he was drinking and getting high in the early 70's, might explain why nobody WANTED him to fly jets. So the issue isn't that he did it, but why he is covering up and lying about it. Clinton took a lot of heat for his girlfriends and "didn't inhale". So why not Bush for "uh I think I must've reported for duty but can't remember".
