Invention Machine Corporation and Mitsubishi Research Institute Ink $13 Million Deal

Invention Machine Corporation to Provide Computer-Aided Innovation Software and Training to Leading Japanese Manufacturers

BOSTON, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Invention Machine Corporation (IMC), a leading provider of engineering software tools, today signed a $13
million, three-year pact with the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI), a $200 million consulting firm specializing in information systems, public policy, economic policy as well as science and engineering, to distribute Invention Machine's award-winning Computer-Aided Innovation
software.

Under the terms of the agreement, Invention Machine Corporation will provide the TechOptimizer(TM) Professional Edition software and
extensive training to approximately 100 leading Japanese companies belonging to the MRI consortium. In cooperation with the consortium's
members, a Japanese version of the software will be developed and released by IMC, and distributed by MRI throughout Japan.

"We've received tremendous demand for Invention Machine's software and training from Japan's Fortune 500,'' said Tom Lewis, president of
Invention Machine Corporation. ``We expect the development of the Japanese market to add significantly to our continued growth."

Toyota, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ricoh, Toshiba, Matsushita and Tokyo Electric have joined the consortium, and Honda R&D and
Mitsubishi Electric have taken the leadership role by joining the consortium steering committee. Other Japanese corporations that have already purchased IMC software to solve complex engineering problems and to increase their productivity include Nippon Steel, Hitachi, Canon, Fuji, Nissan, Asahi Chemical, Aishin, Oki Electric and more than 30 major Japanese companies. "We've read about the impact that Invention Machine's products have had on global industry," said Masatoshi Hotta, General Manager of MRI.
"We have a unique opportunity to create a strong distribution channel for IMC in Japan because the potential users are already the clients thatbuy MRI consulting services. We anticipate offering IMC software and training to Japanese organizations looking to cut time-to-market and solve complex engineering problems without compromise. Invention Machine's software will allow our client corporations to quickly deliver more innovative products to the market."

To support the agreement, Invention Machine Corporation announced the opening of a Japanese office in Tokyo, Japan. Minoru Tomijima, vice
president of Invention Machine Japan, will run the Tokyo office. Tomijima joined Invention Machine from Formtek, a Lockheed Martin
Company, where he was a vice president. Previously, he established Adobe Systems Japan where he served as Managing Director.

About TechOptimizer 2.5 Professional Edition

TechOptimizer 2.5 Professional Edition is designed to support engineers in the conceptual stage of product and process development. The product is divided into five modules that help users correctly state and solve engineering problems. Once the first module, TechOptimizer, has helped the user identify the problem, the Effects, Principles and Prediction modules can be used to find innovative solutions, while the Feature Transfer module allows users to combine the best elements of competing or existing systems. Easy to use toolbars allow users to define their engineering problems, while additional features allow the ranking of individual objectives and problem limitations. Graphical illustrations for each engineering principle and examples permit users to view the solutions to their engineering dilemmas.
