Date line: somewhere on the front lines of asset deflation, along the ridge of economic stagnation, not too far from TeoTwawKi abyss, immediately on this side of bubble lake and fizz river.
Observation: Shock and awe.
Slowly, gradually, but inexorably, the noose tightens around the city, grinding its daily activities to naught, suffocating its economic air passage, constricting its financial blood flow, killing off its assets, and augmenting the speed at which bubble and fizz cleansing is accomplished.
I just took a walk to Stanley market that is a short walk away from home, normally a busy and cosmopolitan gathering point of locals, expats, and tourists, and the place is now almost emptied of people, devoid of bustle, and has the feel of a ghost village, with about 1/10th of the normal street population.
Shop keepers and restaurant operators poke their heads out and about, looking for the customers that are not there.
How long can the businesses hold out, employing the staff, paying the landlords, who in turn pay the bank that supplies credit to the businesses?
We will wait and see, because we have little else to do but wait and see.
