I respect their view, but I see it as so much pussy footing that would have layed the Iraqi people to waste for years.

It was clearly a surprise to me to see the hold that Saddam had on his people. When the cities in the south were liberated the reaction was originally unenthusiastic as people still feared him. I now believe that there was virtually zero chance that this situation could have been resolved peacefully anytime in the next 30 years.
